After careful consideration, Bryan County Schools will remain closed on Friday, January 24, 2025. The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority, and several factors have contributed to this decision:

Road Safety: Many of our bus routes, as well as roads traveled by student drivers, continue to be impacted by icy conditions. Some neighborhoods that remain shaded throughout the day have experienced minimal melting, and the potential for refreezing overnight remains a significant concern.
Staff Travel: Ensuring our staff can safely commute to and from school is essential. Current road conditions pose risks for travel, and we want to avoid unnecessary hazards for our employees.
Building Inspections: Keeping schools closed on Friday will provide our staff the time needed to thoroughly check all facilities and ensure they are safe and fully operational for the return of students and staff.

We understand the inconvenience that school closures may cause, and we greatly appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we prioritize everyone’s safety.

If you planned on attending the House Bill 581 hearing Friday, January 24, 2025, this hearing has been cancelled and rescheduled for Friday, February 7, 2025 at 9:00 am at the Bryan County Board of Education Central Office.
