AVID - Advancement Via Individual Determination

Slider is playing

AVID is a college and career readiness system that supports high-quality teaching and learning across all classrooms. Through a focus on rigorous curriculum, instructional best practices, and student-centered strategies, AVID empowers educators to increase engagement, promote critical thinking, and ensure access to challenging coursework for all students. By embedding proven instructional practices such as writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading (WICOR), AVID strengthens curriculum and instruction while helping students develop the skills needed for long-term academic success.

In Bryan County Schools, we have three AVID sites. Bryan County Middle School, Bryan County High School, and Richmond Hill High School, though we use AVID’s research and evidence-based practices throughout our school district.
