The Bryan County School District continues to be challenged with significant growth as our student population has increased by 11% since the last redistricting process. In order to accommodate the increase in students, the school system approved and initiated construction of a new elementary school off Warren Hill Road in south Bryan County. The school is set to open in August 2020.
Frances Meeks Elementary School will be a Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade school built to house 1,200 students. In an effort to meet the needs of our growing school system, the Bryan County Board of Education adopted new elementary attendance lines in South Bryan County.
The school system held two community forums and gathered information needed to draft a districting proposal that best meets the needs of both the school system and community. Bryan County Schools used a process that encouraged public discussion before developing a proposal, which allowed the community to have maximum input.
