The major responsibilities of the Learning and Teaching Department include:

Maintain and revise the Pre-K–12 curriculum to ensure alignment with Georgia Standards of Excellence and Georgia Performance Standards in the following areas:

  • Career and Technical Education
  • Fine Arts
  • Health and Physical Education
  • Humanities
  • Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC)
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)

Provide direct support for instructional services and a differentiated curriculum that meet the needs of students through:

  • Advanced Placement Courses
  • Gifted Programs
  • Remedial Education
  • Response to Instruction and Intervention (MTSSS)

Provide the leadership and support for the development of blended learning environments through:

  • Instructional Technology
  • Media Services

Bryan County Schools Gifted Manual

In order to qualify for gifted education services, a student shall meet criteria established by the State Board of Education in the following four areas: mental ability, achievement, creativity, and motivation. Any responsible person with knowledge of a student’s advanced and/or accelerated educational needs may refer a student for evaluation to determine eligibility for gifted education.
