CES Guidelines |
The school day begins at 8:25 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Students arriving after 8:35 are tardy. It is essential that students be present the entire instructional day. Excessive tardiness or early dismissal from class may result in a student not receiving credit for the class periods missed. A doctor’s note constitutes an excused tardy or early dismissal. All doctor’s notes must be turned in to the office when the student returns to school. |
Due to traffic concerns, a student may not be checked out from school between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. Should you have a doctor’s appointment, you must pick your child up prior to 3:00 p.m. |
Students traveling by carpool, walking or riding a bike to school may arrive no earlier than 7:45 a.m. and report directly to the bus room in the cafeteria, which will be staffed at that time. For the safety and security of your child/children, please do not leave your child/children on campus before 7:45 a.m. ONLY AT THAT TIME WILL STAFFING AND SUPERVISION BECOME AVAILABLE. |
Students leaving prior to 12:00 p.m. will be marked absent for the entire day. Students should bring a doctor’s excuse or a parental note to the office immediately following an absence from school. For credit to be given, missed work must be made up within three days for documented excused absences. Exceptions may be made by a school administrator in case of extreme illness. |
Even though a student is marked present for the day when checking out after 12:00, excessive early check-outs will affect the child’s learning and ultimately the average for the classes/subjects missed. Classroom instruction of integral subject matter is taught throughout the school day, from 8:35 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Checking out early will result in missed class work and homework assignments. Please observe our hours of instruction in order to maximize the student’s learning opportunities at Carver. |
Students arriving after 8:35 a.m. will be marked tardy. Students accumulating 5 tardies will receive one day in the time-out classroom. Each 3 additional tardies will result in one more day in the time-out classroom. |
The student’s daily route home should be reported to his/her homeroom teacher as soon as possible. Any change in the daily route home must be reported to the teacher via a note from the parent. For the protection of our students, NO TELEPHONE CALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED TO CHANGE THE ROUTE HOME. For the children’s safety, no one will be allowed to deviate from the normal route home unless a written NOTE is submitted. |
All medications must be brought to the school nurse by the parent and a medical permission form filled out at that time. We will no longer stock over-the-counter medications of any kind. All Tylenol, Aspirin, cough drops, etc. must also be brought in by a parent with the child’s name on the medication and a permission form signed from the nurse’s office. |
All visitors to Carver Elementary must sign-in at the office and receive and wear a visitor’s badge while on campus. All outside access doors except the door at the administrative entrance will remain locked. |
If a student is to be withdrawn during the school year, please notify the office at least one week in advance. |
