During the weeks of April 8-19, fourth and fifth grade students at Carver Elementary will be taking the Georgia Melestones Assessment EOG (End of Grade). Georgia Milestones (GMAS) measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards. Because it is taken online, teachers have incorporated technology use into their lessons throughout the year, and all students will be guided through practice aimed at giving them experience with using the features and tools that are part of online testing. Additionally, all students have been familiarized with their test examiner.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • It is important to arrive on time.
  • Test sessions be interrupted for early dismissals.
  • Students are strongly encouraged to leave electronics at home on test days. Cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, and all other electronic devices are not permitted in the testing room. If they are brought to school, students will turn in devices to their teachers before testing and may collect them after testing is completed.
  • We will NOT be able to accommodate lunch guests or parent volunteers from April 8-April 19. Thank you for helping us maintain a secure, quiet, and distraction-free environment.

We ask that parents of 5th grade students make note of the following as stated in the Bryan County Schools Promotion and Retention guidelines:

To be promoted to 6th grade, 5th grade students must receive a rating of On or Above Grade Level in the are of Reading and an achievement level of Developing, Proficient, or Distinguished in the area of Mathematics. Parents of students not meeting these criteria will be notified as soon as scores are received. Remediation and re-test opportunities will be provided. Retest dates are May 20-22.
