Bryan County Schools :: Technology
Technology

Technology is used in all Bryan county schools to enhance classroom instruction and to meet the needs of all learners and learning styles. In Bryan County, integration of technology into the curriculum is an expectation and as more teachers become comfortable with computers and software, this goal is becoming a reality. To facilitate the integration of technology into the curriculum and to achieve the system's vision for technology, each school has a certified teacher with a strong background in technology in the role of technology specialist. As this system works toward providing students with an integrated curriculum relevant to their needs, technology becomes an essential component in instruction. The utilization of technology provides meaningful enrichment to instruction and curriculum delivery.

Providing Access and Training of PowerSchool
Providing access and training to appropriate central office and school staff on our PowerSchool system allows staff members immediate access to student information such as school attended, bus number, emergency contact information and medical needs in case of emergency. School files from PowerSchool have to be extracted and uploaded to the Georgia Department of Education for FTE and the State Student Record at certain times during the year. Pre-Id label extracts are also uploaded to the GADOE to coincide with school testing.

Telecommunication and E-rate
E-rate is a federal initiative that provides schools and libraries with discounts on telecommunications and Internet related technologies. One step in receiving E-rate discounts is the preparation of a technology plan. Bryan County's technology plan has just been approved for the next three years. This plan shows how the district will use technology to achieve curriculum improvement.

Parent Portal of PowerSchool
PowerSchool Parent Portal allows parents to access their children's school information via the Internet. Every parent receives a username and password and can see basic demographic information, assignments, grades, skills mastery, attendance, and school information.

Infrastructure and Network Connections
Monitoring and maintaining the network infrastructure and continuously upgrading network electronics throughout the district is very important. Ordering, maintaining hardware, and purchasing software licensing are vital parts of the Technology department.

Integrating Technology
Working with individual school technology resource teachers and system technology specialists to integrate technology into the curriculum is crucial. Monthly technology meetings and trainings are held in order to coordinate and discuss technology happenings in Bryan County. These meetings provide each person an opportunity to learn about the latest in educational technology. Trainings are focused on the latest in technology innovations and software which helps increase student achievement in our system.
